  • Hartford Parks & Recreation Programs

    Hartford Parks & Recreation offers a wide array of programs and special events all-year round. Check out their Program Guide for exact details of all offerings.
    • Ice Skating including Learn to Skate (Age 4+) (starts November)
    • Start Smart Youth Development (ages 3-5).  A variety of developmentally appropriate activities.
    • Youth Basketball (K-6)  (starts November)
    • Town Team Baketball (For High School age youth who are not on HS Team)
    • Open Baketball (grades 3-12) and basketball camps (grades 3-8)
    • Youth Indoor Soccer (Starts January) (ages 4-12)
    • Ventures School Break Camps (Kindergarden to age 15)
    • Skiing / Snowboarding (Age 4+)
    • Youth Hunter Safety (fall, all ages)
    • Adult Open Basketball (18+, 40+, 50+) and Basketball League
    • Adult Open Volleyball
    • Adult Winter Walkers (Nature Walks, Sept - March)


  • Parks and Recreation Facilities / Natural Areas in Hartford

    Hartford has many fine parks, playgrounds, and other recreation areas. The Hartford Parks & Rcretion Department maintains a complete list of parks and recreation areas in Hartford. Check for hours, locations, and complete details about facilities.
    • Sherman Manning Pool:  Behind Hartford High School Complex, Highland Avenue, White River Junction, Vermont.  Diving and swimming lanes, large waterslide, wading pool, and dressing rooms. Large deck areas (some shaded) with lounge chairs for sun bathing. Season passes on sale at the Recreation Office. Open seasonally, end of June through August.
    • Hartford Municipal Arena:  Behind Hartford High School Complex, Highland Avenue, White River Junction, Vermont.  Ice arena (Oct.-March) / Indoor Skate Park (May-September).
    • Erwin Clifford Park:  Route 14 to Quechee/West Hartford Road, to Westfield Drive, West Hartford, Vermont.  Tennis court, horseshoe pits, family picnic areas with grills, boating and fishing access, playground equipment, baseball/softball field, basketball 1/2 court, and nature trail.
    • Frost Park:  "A" Street, Wilder, Vermont.  Playground Equipment, picnic shelter, play field, and basketball 1/2 court. Outdoor lighted ice rink (winter months).
    • George Ratcliffe Park:  South Main Street to Nutt Lane, White River Junction, Vermont
      Basketball court, family picnic areas with grills, baseball fields, river overlook point, athletic field, and playground equipment.
    • Hurricane Forest & Wildlife Refuge Park:  Wright Reservoir Road, White River Junction, Vermont
      Hiking trails (trail maps available at Recreation Office), picnic area, town forest, fishing access.
    • Kilowatt Athletic Fields:  Passumpsic Ave., Wilder, VT (Owned by TransCanada)
      Large athletic field scheduled and maintained by the Hartford Parks and Recreation Department.
    • Lyman Point Park:  Bridge Street, White River Junction, Vermont
      Family picnic sites, fishing access, play field, playground equipment, Paul Bennett Memorial Garden and bandstand.
    • Maanawaka Conservation Area:  Route 5, just north of Wilder, VT.  Trailhead for the Hazen Trail corridor between the Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich and Wilder, and a backwater trail which provides fishing access along the Connecticut River. (Trail maps available at Recreation Office.)
    • Quechee Green Park & Dewey's Landing:  Main Street, Quechee, VT (park is near Post Office/landing is across from Marshland Farm/Quechee Inn.)
      Playground equipment and fitness stations. Walking and jogging path around the entire park which includes a large athletic field. fishing access for Dewey's Pond located at the landing.
    • Watson Memorial Park:
      Route 14, just past I-91 Bridge Underpass, Hartford, Vermont
      Playground equipment, athletic field and picnic site and a new non-motorized boat and fishing access. 
    • Upper Valley Dog Park:  Access via Watson Memorial Park

       


  • Upper Valley Aquatics Center

    The Upper Valley Aquatics Center is a multi-use recreation facility located in Hartford. For a complete and current list of offerings, please check their Program Guide. Need-based scholarships may be available. Program offerings include:
