Greetings Mascoma Trails Advocates!
We have set the date for the GPS trail-mapping training to be held in Enfield!
On March 20th from 1pm-2:30 pm, John Taylor from the Upper Valley Trail Alliance (UVTA) will be offering instruction on the use of GPS systems for logging trails and uploading the recorded data to the UVTA's Trail Finder project.
The UVTA is hoping to build a network of "Trail Finder Volunteer Surveyors" go out with GPS devices to collect trail data, then to send the data to UVTA to create an online, interactive database of detailed trail information for trails in the Mascoma Valley community. Trail Surveyors can borrow GPS devices from the UVTA or use their own.
The March 20th session will cover updates on the Upper Valley Trail Finder concept; how to use a GPS; taking trail photos; and how to complete the Trail Information form. This will be an on-the-trail training and participants will put their newly acquired skills into action immediately, collecting trail data for a new trail network in Enfield.
